Our overall mission is to promote the independence and dignity of homebound elderly and people with disabilities by matching them with supportive and caring volunteers who assist them with the tasks of everyday life.
We are a coalition of 27 interdenominational member congregations with more than 300 dedicated volunteers who cheerfully provide free services — such as transportation to doctors’ offices, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, respite care, light housekeeping, telephone reassurance, occasional meal preparation, indoor/outdoor chores, minor home repairs and other non-medical help — that enable care receivers to remain in their homes. Our free services are offered without proselytization and without regard to race, religion, color, income or national origin.
To help take care of the caregivers, we provide workshops, hold wellness retreats for our generous volunteers and group leaders, participate in caregiver conferences and events and sponsor community workshops and guest speakers. Workshops we have presented include Addiction Issues in Older Adults, Senior Safety, Moving and Grooving-Physical and Musical Therapies for the Elderly, Emotional Intelligence and Aging, and Elder Economic Security in NJ. |
