The Get SET After School Program serves students in grades K to 8, Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 5:45 pm with additional family activities offered on a bimonthly basis. Regular everyday activities include homework help, mentoring, and various activities like crafts, drama, music, technology and various recreational activities. Additionally, through our partnerships with CrossFit Kids and Dancespora, Inc., we offer structured physical fitness classes and character building hip hop classes in order to support our Healthy Kids Initiative.
The Get SET staff annually conducts orientation and mentor training for its high school volunteers to ensure they are prepared to engage the children that look up to them. These volunteer tutor/mentors serve at Get SET as well as other community locations throughout the school year.
Get SET serves children that tend to suffer from food insecurity, so we are pleased to announce that beginning with the 2011-2012 school year we now offer a full well-balanced dinner every school day through the federally funded USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program's At-Risk After School Program.
The Get SET program is part of the Westminster Community Life Center.
